World Cup 2026 host cities
The World Cup 2026 host cities consist of 16 cities from Canada, the United States and Mexico. The host cities are spread over the 3 countries.
FIFA confirmed the 16 selected host cities at a press conference on 16 June 2022. The press conference was broadcast live from New York and was attended by well-known presenters and major athletes.
These are the host cities of the 2026 World Cup:
- Atlanta
- Boston
- Dallas
- Guadalajara
- Houston
- Kansas City
- Los Angeles
- Mexico City
- Miami
- Monterrey
- New York/New Jersey
- Philadelphia
- San Francisco
- Seattle
- Toronto
- Vancouver
There are many other regions and communities in North America that are eager to contribute to the tournament in the form of Team Base Camps, Fan Fests and promoting the sport of soccer in the cities.
During the bidding process, 41 cities with 43 existing, fully operational venues with regular tenants (except Montreal) and 2 venues under construction submitted bids (3 venues in 3 cities in Mexico; 9 venues in 7 cities in Canada; 38 venues in 34 cities in the United States).
A first-round elimination cut nine venues and nine cities. A second-round elimination cut another nine venues in six cities, while three venues in three cities (Chicago, Minneapolis, and Vancouver) dropped out due to FIFA's unwillingness to discuss financial details.
After Montreal withdrew in July 2021 due to lack of provincial funding and support to renovate the Olympic Stadium, Vancouver rejoined the bid as a candidate city in April 2022, bringing the total number to 24 venues, each in its own city or metropolitan area.
On June 16, 2022, FIFA announced the sixteen host cities (2 in Canada, 3 in Mexico, 11 in the United States): Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Guadalajara, Kansas City, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Monterrey, Mexico City, Toronto, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Miami.
Mexico City is the only capital of the three host nations chosen as a venue, with Ottawa and Washington, D.C., joining Bonn (West Germany, 1974) and Tokyo (Japan, 2002) as the only capital cities not selected to host World Cup matches.
Training complexes and facilities
The training complexes in the cities are all of high quality. The majority of these facilities already exist or are under development. A small number of training complexes must be renovated and the artificial grass must also be replaced by natural grass. United 2026 has found more than 150 sports accommodations and facilities prepared for the football tournament, including those of the Major League Soccer and Liga MX.
The facilities for teams and referees meet FIFA requirements. This means that the quality is high, but the travel times from the city to airports, stadiums and training complexes are also acceptable. United 2026 has selected 150 top quality facilities.
Each game city has very good infrastructure, hotels, medical care, technology companies. As a result, the minimum requirements of FIFA are well exceeded and a high-quality World Cup football is guaranteed.
Transport and travel to and from the host cities
Because the 2026 World Cup will be played in 3 countries, good transport across national borders is important. The national governments have promised that transport across borders will run smoothly. For this, the transport in the context of the World Championship will use special documents.
The host cities all have one or more international airports, so that football fans from all over the world can easily travel to the cities.
Travel between the host cities will mainly be by plane, as the cities are very far apart. The exception to this are the cities on the east coast of the US, where transport by road and train is also realistic.
Transport and travel in and around the host cities is sufficiently guaranteed in most cities. The infrastructure has enough capacity to handle the large crowds during a football match. Some cities need to expand their infrastructure for the 2026 World Cup.
Atlanta
Population: 537.958
Altitude: 76-98 meters
Temperature: 30 degrees
Atlanta is considered by many as the cultural, commercial, transport, educational, and sports capital of the American South.
The city is emerging as a football hub and frequently hosts USA national team matches, alongside various youth football development programs. As a host city for the FIFA World Cup 2026, Atlanta will seize the opportunity to further promote the game and use football education programs to raise awareness about environmental issues.
With one of the most innovative and state-of-the-art stadiums in the country, Atlanta hopes that the World Cup will serve as a model for how new technologies can transform the live sports experience.

Football is an integral part of Monterrey’s culture, home to two of Mexico's most prominent teams and fan bases. In 1945, Monterrey’s first professional football team, C.F. Monterrey, was established.
The 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, combined with C.F. Monterrey’s improved performance, turned football into a social phenomenon by 1973. In 1974, Tigres UANL earned a spot in the first division, creating a strong rivalry that has led to sold-out stadiums season after season.
The metropolitan area of Monterrey also includes the historic city of Guadalupe, first settled in 1716. Between 1880 and 1910, Monterrey developed from a regional commercial hub into the industrial capital of Mexico. Today, Monterrey is a bustling working hub with growing social diversity, where sports serve as a key social activity, uniting people regardless of income, social class, gender, or background.

Seattle is one of the healthiest and greenest cities in the nation, eager to host an environmentally friendly event.

Additionally, the RAVE Foundation is building urban, accessible football fields and futsal courts for free play, dedicated to open community use.
Seattle has consistently attracted large, passionate crowds for professional matches. In the early years of the NASL, the Seattle Sounders were consistently among the league’s attendance leaders, with more than 20,000 attendees per game. In 1976, an exhibition game between the New York Cosmos and Pele drew a sellout crowd of 58,000, a North American record at the time.

Toronto has hosted significant international football events starting with Canada’s first entry in FIFA World Cup qualifiers back in 1957. And as arguably the most multicultural city in the world, Toronto is truly the world in one city.
The city staged further fixtures at the 1976 Olympic Football Tournament, the 1974 Concacaf Youth Championship, the 1987 FIFA U-16 World Tournament, the 1998 Concacaf Women’s Championship, the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007, and the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014.
Toronto supports professional franchises in several sports: Toronto FC (MLS), Maple Leafs (NHL), Raptors (NBA), Blue Jays (MLB), Argonauts (CFL), Wolfpack (RFL), and Rock (NLL). The greater city also includes Toronto FC II, the Toronto FC academy program, and Canada Soccer’s Ontario Regional Super Centre for young women footballers.

Welcome to Vancouver, where mountains, ocean, and football come together. As a world-class destination with an impressive track record of hosting major sporting events, Vancouver was a host city for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.
Vancouver staged nine incredible matches during the 2015 Women’s World Cup, including the final where the USA defeated Japan to win their third world title and first since 1999.
The city is home to MLS team Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The club was founded in 2009 and three years later became the first Canadian side to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs. The Whitecaps have won two Canadian Championships, in 2015 and 2022.
Canada’s national team ace Alphonso Davies is the Whitecaps’ most celebrated player. Davies’ eye-catching performances earned him a move to European heavyweights Bayern Munich, where he has established himself as a key player.
